Sesion Background:

Celebrating 10 years since Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) establishment, this side event is inspired by AfOx’s Spirit of Ubuntu. It seeks to convene African founders, scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how African-led enterprises, advisory models, and community-driven initiatives are shaping sustainable development across the continent.

Africa is home to a new generation of leaders who are driving innovative and locally grounded solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, governance, education, health, economic inclusion, and social justice. These leaders are leveraging entrepreneurship, research, policy, and community engagement to create sustainable pathways for development that are both impactful and inclusive.

Through dialogue, shared experiences, and networking, this event will provide a platform to strengthen connections and catalyse partnerships aimed at advancing inclusive and sustainable development across Africa.

Objectives

This session reflects AfOx’s commitment to fostering equitable partnerships, African-led knowledge production, and collaborative solutions rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy of shared humanity and collective progress, and will aim to;

  • Showcase African-led initiatives and enterprises that are contributing to sustainable development across the continent.
  • Explore innovative approaches to leadership, governance, investment, and social entrepreneurship.
  • Facilitate dialogue between scholars, practitioners, and policymakers on emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Encourage collaboration and networking among members of the AfOx and wider Oxford communities, and partners
  • Inspire participants to engage in partnerships that advance inclusive and sustainable development in Africa.
