Building Steadiness and Ease in Your Practice and LifeSUNDAY | SEPT 29 | 4:30-6:30p
Sliding Scale: $30-$40
with Guest Instructor Juliet Alden
In the wisdom teachings of the Yoga Sutras Patanjali describes sukham/sthiram (ease and steadiness) in terms of asana (postures), how to practice and the effects that this type of practice may cultivate within the practitioner. Through finding ease, creating space, and practicing asana through a loosening of effort while meditating on the infinite, the practitioner may find the ability to remain steady in the midst of change and turbulence.
All are welcome to this workshop where we will first discuss and then practice Classical Yoga in asana, pranayama, and meditation through the cultivation of steadiness and ease or sukham/sthiram in our approach. When these principles are put into action we are no longer tossed about by our shifting minds and emotions. The mind begins to calm and as in Sutra 2.48, Patanjali describes that, "the pairs of opposites no longer affect us." As a result, we are able to find peace and stillness in the midst of great tumult. This is how we begin to practice yoga off that mat and in our lives!
