About this Event
⭐October Building Industry Meetup: Connect for Health & Safety Month⭐

Join us for our October Building Industry Meetup —a chance to network, connect, and grow with others in the building industry over a few cheeky drinks 🥂🍻.

This month, we’re spotlighting long-term health and safety, with a special focus on Dementia & Stroke Awareness in honor and memory of our founder's mother, Rose, whose birthday falls during this week.

October is Health and Safety Month, and while we often think about safety in terms of site hazards and injury prevention, it’s equally important to address the hidden health risks many of us and our teams may face. Dementia and stroke are two critical areas that can deeply impact the lives of those in the building industry—both directly and through loved ones.

Why This Matters:

- Nearly 500,000 Australians** are currently living with dementia, and this number is projected to double over the next 25 years.

- 1.6 million Australians are caring for someone with dementia—whether a family member, friend, or colleague.

- The building and construction industry is uniquely susceptible to health risks like stress, poor mental health, and lifestyle-related conditions, all of which can increase the risk of stroke and other serious health issues.

Did you know?

- 1 in 4 people over the age of 25 will experience a stroke in their lifetime.

- The construction industry has one of the highest rates of stress-related health issues, which can be linked to poor brain health.

What can you do?

- Would you recognize the signs if a colleague or loved one were showing early symptoms of dementia or at risk of a stroke?

- Are you taking the right steps to look after your **long-term brain health**?

- How can we better support the mental and physical well-being of ourselves and those around us?

At Building Connections, we believe that social connection is just as essential to our health as regular exercise and a balanced diet. It’s often through genuine conversations that we learn, grow, and find solutions that enhance our businesses and our personal well-being.

enhance our businesses and

Event Highlights:

- Special focus on Dementia & Stroke Awareness: Learn how these conditions can affect those around us, and what steps we can take to reduce risks.

- Conversation Starters: Engage in meaningful discussions with fellow attendees on health, safety, and what we can do to support our teams and communities.

- Networking & Connection: Meet like-minded professionals, share stories, and build a network that prioritizes both business success and personal well-being.

- Relax & Unwind: Enjoy drinks, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that fosters real connections.

Let’s prioritize long-term health and safety—both on and off the job site—and come together to support each other, our businesses, and our loved ones.

Let’s Connect for a Cause!

This October, let’s gather to grow our networks and raise awareness of critical health issues that affect our community. We look forward to seeing you and continuing to build a strong, supportive network of professionals who care about the well-being of their teams, families, and themselves.
