Building an Effective Oracy Curriculum - Session 1/3

We are delighted to host this free CPD event 'Building an Effective Oracy Curriulum' with Anne Sawcyzn, aimed at Leaders and Teachers.

Three sessions to support leaders to develop oracy across the curriculum, teaching and learning and wider school life.

Pre Task : Complete a baseline assessment of current practice in speaking an listening across your own school and evaluate strengths and areas for development and reform.

Session 1 : Oracy, The Principles and Components

The session with include:

• The case for oracy, why this why now?
• Overview of the power of oracy to support pupils to learn to talk, and talk to learn
• Overview of the expectations for speaking and listening outlined in the National Curriculum and progression within this domain.
• Exploration of strategies to support talk in the classroom and use of language structures and sentence stems.
