🌿 Join Us for a Hands-On Workshop on Making Biochar Cook Stoves & Rocket Stoves! 🌿🗓️ Date: Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd September 2024
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
📍 Location: Meadow Orchard Project, London N8
🌿 Learn to Build Efficient, Eco-Friendly Cook Stoves That Also Make Biochar! 🌿
Come and spend a weekend learning how to create low-fuel, high-efficiency cook stoves that heat, cook, and help the environment. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast, permaculture practitioner, or simply curious, this workshop is for you!
🌟 What You'll Learn:
🔹 Day 1 Saturday - Biochar Cook Stoves
- What is Biochar? Discover the theory behind biochar, its amazing environmental benefits, and how it turns wood into pure carbon, sequestering it in the soil to create rich, fertile grounds for growing food.
- Build Biochar Burners: Using materials we have on hand, we'll construct several styles of biochar burners. You'll understand how they work, the simple science behind them, and why they're perfect for both cooking and the planet!
🔹 Day 2 Sunday - Rocket Stoves
- What is a Rocket Stove? Explore the high-efficiency design of rocket stoves, which use minimal wood while generating intense heat with almost no smoke.
- Design & Build: With a hands-on approach, we'll build different types of rocket stoves from available materials, and we'll even cook a meal together using our biochar cook stove creations!
YOU CAN ATTEND EITHER SATURDAY OR SUNDAY OR BOTH
🌍 Why Biochar Cook Stoves are Revolutionary 🌍
Biochar cook stoves offer a win-win solution for both home cooking and environmental care:
- Efficient Heating: Uses far less wood than conventional stoves while generating 2 to 3 times the heat.
- Low Emissions: Burns wood gases (smoke), significantly reducing harmful particulates released into the atmosphere.
- Sequesters Carbon: The leftover biochar locks carbon into the soil, helping fight climate change.
- Soil Health: Biochar enriches the soil by improving its structure, retaining moisture, and fostering beneficial bacteria—leading to healthier plants and higher yields.
🔥 What is a Rocket Stove?
Rocket stoves are compact, easy-to-build cooking stoves that focus energy on heating while minimizing fuel use. Like biochar stoves, they’re smoke-free, hotter, and highly efficient.
