The Build Dakota Scholarship team is visiting our area to speak to local high schools and we have also arranged a presentation for our local businesses. It is not only a scholarship program, but a very successful workforce development initiative in South Dakota where everyone is coming to together on the same mission to actually make a positive impact on our state’s workforce shortage. Hundreds of businesses have used the program to solve their own workforce issues by using Build Dakota funds. Some of the topics that will included in the presentation are:· How you can use Build Dakota funds for recruitment and retention
· Rethinking training vs advertising
· The importance of working with local high schools for student career exploration.
· Why job shadowing and internships are important for their business to grow.
· Looking internally to upskill
· How Build Dakota can help grow local workforce. (Send them off to be educated, but they return because they have a job waiting for them.)
