Build a Pumpkin Candy Holder - Hands-on Workshop
About this Event
Build a Pumpkin Candy Holder
Four machines. One build. No experience necessary, and you're moving the whole time.
What you'll do at the workshop
You will run the machines yourself. Not watch someone run them. We guide you through every step, and we'll show you each machine before you touch it.
Cut the body with a handheld CNC router. This is the part people don't expect. Instead of loading a part into a machine and watching it work, you hold the router and move it yourself. The tool shows you where to go and corrects your cut path as you push, so your line comes out right even though your hands aren't perfect. You're steering, it's guiding. It takes about a minute to get the feel of it and then it's the best part of the day.
You'll be cutting into 3/4" Baltic birch plywood. It's the good stuff, void-free and stable, with clean edges that take a finish well. It's what we'd use for our own work.
Bend the aluminum frame on the CNC press brake. You'll form your own frame from 1/8" aluminum. Real metal, real forming, and the operation people talk about on the way out.
Laser cut the eyes and nose. You'll cut the face from acrylic in the color you pick, so the eyes and nose catch the light and give the pumpkin its expression. No two builders walk out with quite the same face.
Power sand it to a finish. You'll take the routed birch from rough to smooth by hand. This is where the piece stops looking like a cut part and starts looking like something you made.
Then you'll assemble it and carry it home the same day.
Never done anything like this?
Good! Most people who walk in haven't. This is a fully guided session, start to finish, and it's built for people who have never touched a router, a press brake, or a laser cutter. We handle the safety instruction, we set you up on each machine, and we stay beside you while you work. You don't need any experience, any tools, or any idea what you're doing when you arrive.
Why this isn't a passive workshop
There's no point in the day where you're standing around bored. You're cutting, bending, sanding, and assembling with your own hands, on real equipment, in real materials. That's the difference between a craft night and a shop.
About the kit
Guests reach into the mouth and pull out whatever they find. Half the fun is watching someone hesitate before they commit.
Optional upgrades: an acrylic leaf for the stem, and an LED light and holder that makes the bowl glow after dark. The LED is the one people wish they'd added once they've seen a lit one on a porch at night.
Wrapped candy only, please
The candy bowl is 3D printed, which is what lets us give it that shape. Printed parts are not food safe. The printing process leaves fine layer lines across every surface, and those lines hold residue that ordinary washing won't remove.
Use it for individually wrapped candy only. Nothing unwrapped, nothing loose, no baked goods, nothing that touches the surface directly. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. No dishwasher, nothing hot. Please pass this along to whoever ends up filling it.
About our photos
Product images show the pumpkin with the acrylic leaf and LED upgrades installed. Both are sold separately. The base kit includes the 3/4" Baltic birch body, the aluminum frame, the 3D printed candy bowl, and laser cut acrylic eyes and nose in your choice of color.
Before you book
One registration admits two people, and you'll build one kit together. We can't admit a third person on one ticket. Minimum age is 13, or 8 if the other person on your ticket is 18 or older and legally responsible for them. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the liability waiver.
Closed-toe shoes are required, no exceptions. No loose or baggy clothing that could catch in equipment. Tie back long hair. We provide all the safety equipment, including glasses, ear protection, dust masks, and gloves.
You take your work home at the end. We don't store anything between visits. Kit sales are final.
