About this Event
About the Talk: Periodical cicadas emerge once every 13 or 17 years, a mass emergence that many consider North America's premier insect spectacle. Come join UNG entomologist Evan Lampert for a discussion of the periodical cicada broods known to emerge in North Georgia, including "hands-on" interactions with preserved Brood X cicadas from Lumpkin County!
Bio: Evan Lampert is an entomologist who has been with the UNG Department of Biology since 2010, where he teaches courses in biodiversity, ecology, and evolutionary biology. He has degrees in Zoology and Entomology from North Dakota State University and was a research associate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at University of Colorado, Boulder. Evan loves to share the amazing world of insects with learners of all ages and backgrounds.
