From the Revolutionary War to the western frontier, African Americans have long served in the nation’s military. After the Civil War, the Buffalo Soldiers, African American regiments of the U.S. Arm, played a vital role in building the West, protecting settlements, and serving with distinction despite facing discrimination and hardship.Presenters: Dennis Moore and Mel Elliott have been researching and sharing the history of Buffalo Soldiers for many years. They are founding members of the Buffalo Memorial Committee in Colorado Springs, which is dedicated to the preservation and commemoration of Buffalo Soldiers in Colorado.
