About this Event
Welcome to the annual Buffalo Soldiers and Blues Freedom Festival! A free, all-ages community festival on Detroit's West Side at Rouge Park. This event is hosted by Friends of Rouge Park and Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association and sponsored by the Detroit Parks Coalition and Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance!
Date: Saturday, September 13th
Time: 1pm-5pm
Location: Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association, the Barn on 8886 Lahser Road
Come join us at the Buffalo Soldiers Heritage Association for a day filled with amazing music, delicious food, free horse rides, barn tours, and good vibes. Immerse yourself in the rich history of the Buffalo Soldiers while enjoying live blues music from Detroit's favorite group Big Pete & Friends!
We'll have free horse rides from 2-3 and 4-5pm. We will also have a special Speed and Action rodeo skills demo !
Come dressed in your best WESTERN COSTUME and enter the COSTUME CONTEST judged by the Buffalo Soldiers to win a PRIZE!
Free food will be provided by the Buffalo Soldiers and local chef Marichonna! If you came last year you know how tasty this food will be!
This event is a celebration of freedom, culture, and community, so bring your friends and family for a day you won't forget. Come ready to dance, mingle, eat, show off your costume, greet the horses and more! Let's honor the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers in style!
