It's time to prepare yourself once again little creatures, on 25th January 2025 the mighty KUGELSCHREIBER will be performing their incredible cosmic pop tunes for Buds & Spawn at The Dorothy Pax in Sheffield!
If you've never heard the music of Sharron Fortnam, you've not only missed a trick, but the whole deck of cards. Her delicate voice has the capacity to transport your conscious mind to places only seen in vivid and colourful dreams. Blend in the pleasantly jagged sensibilities of James Larcombe, Jen Macro and Chip Cummins and you have a recipe for a very unique group that is simultaneously adventurous and undeniably easy on the ears.
Join us for a TOTALLY FREE SHOW to celebrate the release of their "charmingly unusual" (Silent Radio) new debut album Cheerleaders, featuring such sweet treats as '(me x u) ≠ (u x me)' and the unpredictable 'Elasticine™'. It's a very special gift, from Buds and Spawn to you.
We are also delighted to have Adrian Bell selecting some tunes before and after the live performance. Known to many as 'Belch', Adrian hosts the Progressive Alternative radio show and could probably take the title of 'best known Cardiacs fan' after he wrote the brilliant memoir 'Aylesbury Bolton Wolverhampton Hove: A Little Man and 101 Cardiacs Gigs' (now almost impossible to get hold of, but recommend borrowing a copy if you can!). This is a free entry gig, but please bring some cash for the bucket in order to show your appreciation for our artists.
Under 18s are welcome until 9pm and must be accompanied by an adult.
Accessibility: The Dorothy Pax is a canalside bar which is reached by a 5 min walk from the nearest road (Furnival Rd), or a very short walk from the multistorey car park (disabled bays available) that has a pedestrian exit directly on to the quays. The pavement surface around Victoria Quays is cobbled and uneven. Inside, the bar has a small mezzanine / balcony area at ground level, with 10 steps down to reach the bar and the toilets (two large gender neutral cubicles).
