In the two months before the plane crash that took his life at the age of 22, Buddy Holly wrote some of his most beautiful and introspective songs. Making plans for the future, Buddy recorded a simple demo tape, accompanied only by his guitar. The results were stunning. J.P. McDermott takes a deep dive into these last songs and explores where they came from, how Buddy’s recent move to Greenwich Village affected the young man from Texas, and where those songs might have taken him had he not boarded that plane. J.P. is an award-winning singer, guitarist, and bandleader, performing at venues from dive bars to embassy parties and festivals. A lifelong Buddy Holly fan, he has organized celebrations of Buddy's life and music on both coasts and has spoken (and sung) about Buddy's life and legacy at The Smithsonian Institution and The Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas. His series of videos about Buddy Holly’s songs has been viewed more than half a million times on YouTube.
Tickets are $20 - Advance purchase is strongly suggested as seating is limited.
