Bubble Tea Council: A Tasting Workshop on Hidden Histories

Are you a bubble tea lover? Do you know there is more than a hundred years of history in that little cup of sweet drink? Join us for an intimate afternoon tea session, where bubble tea becomes a drinkable archive of Taiwanese history, identity, and cultural exchange. Bubble Tea Council: Hidden Stories in Kitchen invites you to gather around the table for a ‘meeting through eating’, follow the ingredients, and discover the hidden histories of migration, cultural exchange, consumption, and belonging with every sip.

What to expect:

• A 40-minute participatory, multi-sensory experience
• A guided tasting exploring Taiwanese colonial history, culture, and migration through storytelling, co-creation, and shared bubble tea
• A playful, sensory conversation around food, history, and identity

This event is for adults interested in food histories, East Asian culture, identity, migration, or anyone who simply loves bubble tea and wants to taste it differently. 

No prior knowledge is needed — just your taste buds and a heart ready for stories. 

Important notes: 

This event involves audience participation, food and drink consumption, and political content. Food includes dairy milk, tea, black sugar, and tapioca pearls. Please note that there is no dairy-free option.

About the Organizer & Artist

Vic is a London-based interpretive artist and experience designer from Taiwan. With a background in history and narrative environments design, she works to translate archives into immersive, participatory experiences, using exhibitions, games, and workshops to foster reflection, dialogue, and shared understanding. 

This event is presented as part of Untitled Kitchen - an experimental curatorial project unfolding aboard a narrowboat on Regent's Canal.
