BSG Scotland Summer Writing Day

First of a series of in-person writing days that will be held across various Scottish Universities. Open to all career stages!
About this Event

This summer the British Society of Gerontology (BSG) Scotland are launching our series of in-person writing days, which will be held at various universities across Scotland, providing opportunities to write, network and visit other campuses.

Finding time to sit down and write is something we all find difficult at any career stage, so these sessions are open to all BSG Scotland members (any career stage) who would find it beneficial to set aside time to write with dedicated breaks and minimal distractions.

Our first session is proposed for Thursday 27th August 2026 at the University of Stirling, please register below.

Arrivals & Coffee

Info: Session starts formally at 10am but please feel free to arrive a little early and enjoy a coffee (other beverages will be available).

Welcome & Goal Setting

Info: Welcome from BSG Scotland Chair, Dr Lisa Davison, followed by individual introductions and goal setting for the day.

🕑: 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Writing block 1 (1h 15mins)

Info: Writing block 1/3 - Space available in the main IMB conference room for everyone to work, but additional quiet space booked (Maitland Room, upstairs IMB, lift access available).

Lunch & Loch Walk (optional)

Info: Optional Loch walk during the lunch break (weather dependent)

Writing block 2 (1h 15mins)

Info: Writing block 2/3 - Space available in the main IMB conference room for everyone to work, but additional quiet space booked (Maitland Room, upstairs IMB, lift access available).

Info: 30 minute comfort break, networking activity tbc

Writing block 3 (1h)

Regroup & Closing

Info: A final 30minutes to reflect on progress and revisit goals. Brief closing from the BSG Scotland team including feedback and suggestions for future events.
