Spend the day exploring the Gulf Coast, watching paintings come to life — then see the finished works on the gallery walls that evening.
The Gulf Beach Art Center presents Brushes on the Beach: A Plein Air Art Walk & Celebration, bringing 30 plein air artists to locations throughout Sand Key, Belleair Beach, Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores for a one-day celebration of art and our coastal communities.
WHAT IS PLEIN AIR?
Plein air means painted outdoors, on the spot, in a single sitting — no photos, no studio, no second try.
Beginning at 10 AM, artists will capture beaches, waterways, local landmarks and coastal scenes as the day unfolds. Painting wraps up around 2:30–3:00 PM.
TAKE THE ART WALK
Pick up your Brushes on the Beach Art Walk booklet and map at the Beach Art Center or check in at one of the artist locations, then explore at your own pace.
Meet the artists, watch their paintings take shape, stop for lunch at a local restaurant, explore local shops, spend some time on the sand — and experience our beach communities through the eyes of an artist.
GALLERY SHOW & CELEBRATION
Join us back at the Beach Art Center from 5–7 PM as the day’s paintings arrive — still wet — and go up on the gallery walls.
Meet the artists, see the finished works, find out which paintings are recognized by our judge, and have the opportunity to bid on and purchase original artwork created that day. Enjoy food, drinks and live music as we celebrate the first Brushes on the Beach.
RSVP — IT’S FREE!
We encourage you to RSVP so we know you’re coming and can have your official Art Walk booklet ready at check-in. Walk-ins are welcome, too!
