Missed out on October’s Brunch Book Club or simply prefer your book discussions around a slightly smaller table?

The Extra Chapter is back.

On Saturday 3 October, 12 readers will come together to discuss The Names by Florence Knapp: a moving, thought-provoking novel about identity, choice, family and the many ways a single decision can shape a life.

We’ll begin with our online discussion from 10:30am–12:30pm, giving us plenty of time to get properly into the book. Then, at 2:30pm, we’ll meet at Megan’s on the Hill in Balham for brunch, drinks and the sort of conversation that inevitably continues long after the official discussion has ended.

Your £15 ticket includes:

Food and drinks at Megan’s are not included in the ticket price and will be paid for separately.

PREORDER & PREPAYMENT POLICY: To confirm your place, we require a full preorder and prepayment one week in advance of the event. If these aren’t received by the deadline, your ticket will be forfeited. A preorder form will be sent to attendees via email two weeks before the event. October's book: The Names by Florence Knapp

In the wake of a catastrophic storm, Cora sets off with her nine-year-old daughter, Maia, to register her son’s birth. Bottomless at Megan's On the Hill, Balham

Megan’s on the Hill is a cosy, fairy-lit neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Balham, serving a Mediterranean-inspired all-day menu.

We’ll be gathering for brunch from 2:30pm in its bright, welcoming restaurant — an appropriately lovely setting for good food, strong opinions and a table full of book lovers.

COMING ALONE?

Please do. Lots of our members arrive on their own, and creating a welcoming space where nobody feels like the new person for long is very much the point.

Brunch Book Club’s in-person events welcome women— including cis and trans women non-binary people and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

• Your discussion link and discussion guide will be emailed ahead of the event.
• Food and drinks at brunch are purchased separately.
• Please let us know about any dietary requirements or allergies when submitting your preorder.
• Tickets are refundable up to two weeks before the event. After that point, we’ll do our best to offer your place to somebody on the waiting list, but a refund cannot be guaranteed.
