Häähumua 1700-luvun Tukholmassa ja Leipzigissa! Kaikki tässä konsertissa kuultava laulumusiikki on alun perin esitetty osana hääjuhlallisuuksia.
J. H. Roman oli "Ruotsin musiikin isä", jonka sukujuurten arvellaan olleen kuitenkin lähtöisin Suomesta. Bröllopsmusik-kantaatti esitettiin luultavasti vuonna 1728 eräiden Ruotsin hovin piirissä pidettyjen häiden kunniaksi. Konsertissa kuultava katkelma kantaatin alusta säteilee onnea ja toiveikkuutta uuden elämänvaiheen alkaessa.
J. S. Bachin hääkantaatti O Holder Tag esitettiin ensi kertaa Leipzigissa oletettavasti 1740-luvun alussa. Koska kantaatin säilynyt nuottimateriaali on poikkeuksellisen viimeistelty ja kaunis, on arveltu, että säveltäjä tunsi hääparin henkilökohtaisesti ja antoi nuottikäsikirjoituksen heille lahjaksi. Kantaatin maallinen teksti käsittelee musiikin kykyä liikuttaa, lumota, lohduttaa ja virkistää kuulijaa; avioparin syvä ja vilpitön rakkaus rinnastetaan musiikin väkevään voimaan.

Wedding festivities in 18th-century Stockholm and Leipzig! All the vocal music heard in this concert was originally performed as part of wedding celebrations.
J. H. Roman was known as the “father of Swedish music”, although his family roots are thought to have originated in Finland. The cantata Bröllopsmusik was probably performed in 1728 in honour of a wedding within the circles of the Swedish court. The excerpt heard in this concert, taken from the opening of the cantata, radiates happiness and hope as a new stage of life begins.
J. S. Bach’s wedding cantata O holder Tag was first performed in Leipzig, presumably in the early 1740s. Because the surviving manuscript material of the cantata is exceptionally polished and beautiful, it has been suggested that the composer may have known the bridal couple personally and presented the manuscript to them as a gift. The secular text of the cantata deals with music’s ability to move, enchant, console and refresh the listener; the deep and sincere love of the married couple is compared to the powerful force of music.
