About this Event
Join NYC’s only curling community for a seven-week social league with Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club! Both new and experienced curlers take to the ice weekly for friendly, 90-minute games.
You may sign up as an individual or with your friends. If you are a new curler, or if you’ve previously taken a Try Curling class, we’ll direct you to the Rookie League, where you’ll benefit from skills-and-game coaching as you play.
Your ticket is good for one (1) single player (NOT a full team). If you would like to sign up as a team, each of your teammates must complete their own individual registration and each purchase a ticket.
Complimentary beer and water is provided for outdoor "broomstacking" after games.
Who can join: Curlers joining the league will require prior BLCC league play (Rookie or Regular league) or one year of curling experience. If you’ve never curled before, or have only taken a Try Curling class, you will be eligible instead to play in the Rookie League. All ages 21 and up, all genders, all everything else, are very welcome.
Setup and Takedown: BLCC is an all-volunteer club. Curlers will be required to be at the ice at the listed start time each week for sheet setup and ice prep which will allow us to have a timely start and insure that we get in our full 1.5 hours of game play.
Team Selection: If you have already formed a team, please make a note of your team members’ names in the "team notes" box when checking out. If you do not have a team, or have less than a full team, indicate so in the ‘team notes’ box when checking out. Be sure to include whether you have 1, 2, or 3 additional players, and indicate your number of years of curling. Note that your ticket is good for one (1) single player, so if you have teammates, they must each complete their own individual registration and purchase their own ticket. Players signing up without a team will be assigned to one after registration closes.
All player slots are first come first served, so if you want to make sure your whole team is signed up, have all your teammates sign up at the same time. Our events often sell out in a matter of days. Note that you must buy each ticket individually as we require each teammate's name and contact info to verify curling experience eligibility for the league.

Game Time: Set-up starts at 6:30PM and games start promptly at 7PM. Please aim to arrive prior to 6:30PM to ensure that the ice is setup by 7PM. At 8:15PM, you will finish the end you have started. All games must end by 8:30PM.
League Format: Open format, six weeks of round robin play, followed by one week of championships and consolation matchups. All teams will be scheduled for all seven weeks.
Location: LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park, 171 East Dr, Brooklyn NY 11225. Take the Q train to Parkside Av. or otherwise find your way to the Parkside and Ocean Avenue entrance to Prospect Park, enter the park and walk up the hill.
IMPORTANT: Pricing is $415 for league + $75 for mandatory annual insurance, plus dues for Grand National Curling Club (GNCC), United States Curling Association, (USCA) and Brooklyn Lakeside Curling Club (BLCC). If you go on to curl in the Winter league this season, the $75 annual insurance & dues fee will not be added for any additional 2024-2025 league registrations. The USCA dues collected are for the overall club's membership, not for each player's individual membership. We encourage BLCC club members to sign up for an individual USCA membership to gain access to additional benefits and eligibility to attend USAC trainings and competitions.
SUBSTITUTES: If you cannot make it to a match, you can arrange for a substitute to play in your place. Note that all substitute players must be either current league players or must hold BLCC Associate Membership for the current season, NO EXCEPTIONS. Due to our liability and insurance requirements, we cannot have players on the ice who have not signed Lakeside and BLCC waivers. BLCC Associate Memberships can be purchased here and cover the cost of club insurance and dues which allow players to be on the ice.
REFUNDS: There are no refunds for league registrations.
Weather Cancellations: Because the Lakeside rink is only partially covered, we occasionally must cancel due to extreme weather conditions. If there is a weather cancellation, BLCC will make its best effort to extend the league season by one week on the same night and time to compensate. BLCC will not issue refunds for any league dates cancelled due to weather.
