Join archaeologist Gillian Smith for a unique and fascinating illustrated talk on the pre-history of the Llyn Brenig landscape. When you look at Llyn Brenig and the surrounding area today, it's difficult to imagine that it was once a vast Bronze Age cemetery. Long before the lake existed, our ancient ancestors used the area for farming, funerals and ceremonies. As evidence of the latter, they left many stone monuments, a number of which can still be seen today. Join archaeologist Gillian Smith for a unique and fascinating illustrated talk on the pre-history of the area.
The talk will be introduced by the ancient sounds of the didgeridoo and a 'wolf tale' by storyteller Andy Harrop-Smith. Afterwards, if you choose, you can join a guided tour of the Llyn Brenig Archaeology Trail with Andy and Sarah (Brenig Osprey Project Officer), of the funerary monuments still visible on the hills and shore-line of the lake (about 4km walk/some hills). The tour (not obligatory!) will require a short car journey to the far side of the lake that incorporates some negotiable pot-holed tracks.
