This is a first Montrose appearance for Bronwynne Brent, from Greenville, Mississippi, USA. Although Bronwynne says that ” I don’t play the blues, but I definitely sing them “, her latest Album, entitled ” Undercover ” is a ferocious amalgam of American Roots music, a deep Southern roux, combining elements of folk, blues and jazz, into a complex and flavoursome brew of truth-imbued Americana.
When BBC TV and Radio 2 legend, ” Whispering ” Bob Harris discovered Bronwynne Brent in 2014, and she became his fave rave, her arrival in the U.K. got off to a dream start, leading to an appearance at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival.
Now, firmly established as one of the most popular touring artists, with many sold-out shows each time she returns, Bronwynne Brent carried off the Female Vocalist of the Year Award two years running in the annual Readers Poll at Americana UK. This year, she will be touring in trio format with two of her favourite musicians in Chris Maresh, on bass guitar and Scotland’s leading jazz guitarist in Graham Stephen on electric guitar.
