About this Event
Shred Shed Repairs and Bluebird: Coffee Tuning & Rentals, along with The Black Tusk Snowmobile Club, are hosting a fun for the whole family, community event at Brohm Ridge that will raise funds to refurbish the roof on the historic Brohm Ridge Chalet. The goal of this event is to bring people together and support the restoration of a cabin that has served as a shelter and training facility for backcountry visitors for many years.
The event will include a snowboarding and ski jam style contest with a hip feature, welcoming both professional and casual riders of all ages. As an additional attraction for spectators, there will be a snowmobile jump with professional sledders. To add to the fun for all ages, a tube/GT Snowracer/toboggan slope will be groomed for your sliding pleasure.
There will be live music, a raffle with prizes from local and supporting sponsors, and food and beverages. The event is open to all ages and encourages community participation. Whether participating or spectating, everyone can contribute and is welcome to join this community get together and restoration effort.
Brohm Ridge Chalet History
The main cabin on Brohm Ridge serves as an Alpine Learning Centre and hosts avalanche training and awareness courses throughout the winter led by Niko Weis, Since 2003, the Black Tusk Snowmobile Club through the ALC, has hosted annual safety courses (AST1 & AST2) at The Chalet and can lay claim to educating over 1000 students over the last 15 years. In addition, the ALC is typically the venue for Search & Rescue (SAR) and their advanced education courses for SAR Members.
The BTSC also support youth education of backcountry awareness through the Todd Eberts Memorial Safety fund, where youth can take part in AST training. The Black Tusk Snowmobile Club is a Non For Profit organization and is managed solely by community volunteers and fundraising.
In the late 90’s, Al Clark, Jon Greenglass and other early snowboard influencers created what was known as ‘Superpipe’. A youth snowboard camp that was home to one of the world’s first Superpipes and provided riders an opportunity to live in the Chalet during the summer months and experience world class instruction from professional riders. With this effort, we also strive to pay homage to the creators and that project as many still reside in the Sea to Sky Corridor and play in these mountains.
The Brohm Ridge Chalet has been an important part of the backcountry community for all types of users for many years, and this event will help ensure it remains accessible to future visitors for years to come. Please come out for this fun-filled day, learn more about the Chalet’s history, and support an incredible asset to our community.
