About this Event
Twilight at the Queensland Maritime Museum
24 February 2026 | 5:30pm–7:30pm
Brisbane Living Heritage invites you to the first Twilight Event of 2026 — an evening of heritage, stories, collaboration, and community at the Queensland Maritime Museum. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the historic South Brisbane Dry Dock and the towering HMAS Diamantina, this special event also marks the official launch of Brisbane Living Heritage’s 2026 Program.
The Queensland Maritime Museum stands on land traditionally cared for by the Turrbal and Jagera peoples, beside Maiwar (the Brisbane River). For thousands of years, Maiwar has been central to Aboriginal life in this region — supporting movement, connection, fishing, and trade. Knowledge of the river’s crossings, seasons, and currents has been passed down through generations.
Recognising Maiwar as living heritage invites us to see Brisbane’s relationship with the river as part of a long continuum of navigation, knowledge, and connection to water that continues today.
