Step back in time and discover the fascinating history of our city at Brisbane 100: One City Together! Join us on 1 October, from 10am to 4pm at Brisbane City Hall, for a free, fun, and informative big day out for everyone.
Inspired by the creation of Greater Brisbane a century ago, when the Brisbane City Council replaced 20 local authorities, this event offers a unique journey through our past.
What to expect:
• Explore Brisbane's Evolution: Discover how our city transformed from scattered townships through historic displays, video footage, photographs, and maps in the Sherwood Room.
• Life in 1925: Learn what Brisbane was like 100 years ago, from how people got around to housing and everyday life, with insights from experts including public transport groups, RACQ, and Queensland Police.
• Community Stories & Cultures: Hear about the lived experiences of individuals and ethnic communities arriving and living in Brisbane over the last century, with interactive activities like "Borrow A Brissy: Stories Across Cultures".
• Family & Children's Fun: The Sandgate Room hosts a range of free, interactive activities! Enjoy workshops with Bazil Grumble, puzzles from Just Wood Fun, and engaging exhibits from the Museum of Brisbane like "Brisbane Now and Then," plus a Scavenger Hunt with prizes.
• Guided Tours: Take a one-hour walking tour of the CBD with the knowledgeable Brisbane Greeters, or book an essential tour of City Hall, including the historic clock tower, with the Museum of Brisbane.
