Our popular Sunday Classic Matinee series is getting screwy! Join us once a month from September through March as we highlight some of the wittiest and most charming films in the beloved Screwball Comedy genre. Created out of the aftermath of the Hays Code, which enforced strict morality rules on cinema โ the films in this series offer a masterclass in disguising subversive messaging with fast-talking banter, laughter and innuendo. The series comes to an end with a hilarious film starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and a Leopard- BRINGING UP BABY! ๐๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ฒ: Howard Hawks captured lightning in a bottle with his casting of Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant in what may be the greatest screwball comedy of all time. Grant plays a straight-laced paleontologist eager for a million-dollar endowment from Hepburn, a scatterbrained but wealthy socialite. In order to seal the deal, Grant must accompany the madcap heiress to her country home the day before his wedding with her pet leopard, Baby, in tow.
