An evening featuring metro-Detroit’s finest blues musicians!
About this Event

2 Stones Events and the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts have teamed up to present the Brighton Blues Bash! 2 — presented by Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.

Kicking off the evening at 4 p.m. — A tribute to the late Johnnie Bassett, Detroit’s Gentleman of the Blues, with The Brothers Groove (Chris Codish, keys; Skeeto Valdez, drums; and James Simonson, bass) joined by Brett Lucas, guitar; and Keith Kaminski, saxophone.

At 5:30, guitarist Bobby Murray’s Love Letters to Detroit takes the stage with a 12-piece ensemble honoring the great Etta James, who Murray toured with for 23 years until she passed. A powerhouse lineup including four vocalists to cover James’ wide range of styles, the Woodward Horns, bass, drums, keys, and two guitarists.

Learn more about the Johnnie Bassett Tribute and Bobby Murray’s Love Letters From Detroit by clicking HERE.

Tickets are $30 before Sept. 13. Price will increase to $40 day-of at the door.

The doors for this special Sunday show at the BCPA will open at 3 p.m. The evening will top off a full weekend of blues music with the Brighton Smokin Rock-N-Blues Festival on Sept. 11-12.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS

This event will include a food drive for the Livingston Hunger Council, and attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable item. Of course, they’ll also take a monetary donation — every dollar donated provides three meals locally.

Results from the 2025 Brighton Blues Bash! food drive were impressive: “It was a PERFECT event!!!,” said Cathy Wormsbacher of the LCHC, noting that $563 was donated along with 247 pounds of food. “This is incredible. Thank you again for all of your support!!”

Special thanks to Media Partners, LivingstonPost, WHMI 93.5 FM and The Marketeer.

FAQs

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If your question isn't answered below, call 810-599-0491 or email [email protected].

What is the food drive?

The Livingston Hunger Council does amazing work in this area, and attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item. There will be dropoff boxes in the lobby. Of course, the organization will take cash donations, too!

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Neither, but if the name on the ticket doesn't match the name of the ticketholder, it would be good to have ID.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable, and can I update my registration info?

If you need to change info, please email [email protected].

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

We recommend going 'green' and just showing your tickets on your phone at the door.

What are my parking options?

The BCPA is located on the campus of Brighton High School, and there is plenty of free parking available.

What can I bring into the event?

No food or drink will be allowed in the seating area.

What's the refund policy?

There are no refunds. Can't make it? Give 'em to a friend (a really good friend because this show is going to be great).

Are there restaurants nearby?

Yes! There are numerous places, many within a 5-minute walk. Visit Brighton Community Business Owners - Believe In Brighton to view your options for dining and shopping.

Is photography or videography allowed?

Unfortunately, no -- and everyone will be asked to turn off their cellphones before the show starts. Those who don't comply may be escorted out of the theater. Don't be that person; you can live without your phone for a few hours, can't you?

How long do I have to live without my phone?

The doors open at 3 p.m.; the Johnnie Bassett Tribute is from 4-5; and Bobby Murray's Love Letters From Detroit will take the stage at approximately 5:30 for a 90-minute set. Let's all show our wild appreciation and they may play more! Afterwards, you can turn your phone back on and tell your friends via social media about the amazing Brighton Blues Bash! 2.
