Brigantis is a mantra band fusing ancient songs of loving unity from many cultures , and new ones calling forth the old ways of this land, with fresh melodies, beats and harmonies. We facilitate space for people to sing together, weaving our diversity into a thriving, blissful unity for an unforgettable experience. This is an exciting opportunity, with limited tickets, so grab 'em whilst you can. We'll play songs in English, Sanskrit, Yoruban, Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Ancient Sumerian and Gurmukhi and in this way declare that simple truth: the sages are many, the truth is one.
Collective singing has a profoundly transformative effect on the consciousness and the body: it releases dopamine and serotonin, the hormones of happiness and contentment, and is an ancient birth rite of all peoples. Countless scientific research papers are proving what has been known and felt for untold generations: making music is medicine.
About the band:
Mat Pickles, a Yoga teacher, Percussionist, Healing Space Musician, Drum Circle Facilitator, Mindfulness and breath Work Teacher, Children's Yoga and One to One Yoga Therapist and teacher. Amongst other things. Mat plays percussion from all over the world, with a deftness of touch and a celebration of love that helps the cells remember the drum is older than writing, and rhythm older than words. He's been playing in bands for many years, in a variety of contexts, and his experience creates a skilful ease and playfulness that makes for a powerful heart for the music.
Devashish (Deva Dave), who's run singing circles for some years now, and has played mantra for over 20, and also happens to be writing this so will lean away from being too self aggrandising here. Or at least, I'll try to. The only activity I love more than singing is singing with others, and when this is combined with the ancient magic of these mantras - and new songs that hope to welcome in that presence which the ancients speak of - I'm just feel I'm doing what I'm supposed to be. The vital, living love that fills presence when we engage in this practice defies description and feels like home.
Viviane Barzyk has been travelling with sound for some time. Her voice has led her to new countries and many adventures, including a fascinating tale that includes support from the legendary Eric Clapton, and when you hear her you will understand something of the power she is channelling. A gifted a prolific musician in her own right, Viviane plays multiple instruments as well as embodying what those intuitional voice coaches like to go on about. Her voice is a gateway and guide into presence and celebration.
No experience necessary: all are welcome, of all faiths, races and persuasions. This is a place to celebrate unity, to dive deep into the mystical mood, and be rejuvenated by the power of our shared voice.
