Brief Encounter is a 1945 British romantic drama film directed by David Lean, based on Noël Coward's play Still Life. It's about two married strangers who meet at a train station and fall in love. The film was shot at Carnforth between February 5 and February 16, 1945, shortly before the end of WWII.

Afterward, make your short journey to South Causey Inn's beautiful Farmhouse, where you'll be treated to a traditional Afternoon Tea in the Orangery, overlooking the breathtaking Beamish Valley.
