Bridging the Gaps. Connecting the Dots - Final Conference

From Burkina Faso to Lithuania, from Tanzania to Germany, the Deconfining project has spent the past four years building a dynamic and evolving network of artistic collaboration across continents. This journey will reach a significant milestone in Chemnitz, where the Final Conference — Bridging the Gaps. Connecting the Dots. — will take place as part of the renowned Theater der Welt festival. This gathering marks the culmination of an ambitious international initiative that has brought together cultural organisations, artists, researchers, and policymakers from across Africa and Europe. Over the course of the project, Deconfining has fostered artistic residencies, co-productions, and critical dialogue, all while navigating an increasingly complex global landscape shaped by mobility restrictions, geopolitical tensions, and structural inequalities. The conference in Chemnitz offers a vital moment to reflect, exchange, and move forward.

Von Burkina Faso bis Litauen, von Tansania bis Deutschland – das Projekt Deconfining hat in den vergangenen vier Jahren ein dynamisches und sich ständig weiterentwickelndes Netzwerk künstlerischer Zusammenarbeit über Kontinente hinweg aufgebaut. Diese Reise erreicht nun in Chemnitz einen bedeutenden Meilenstein: hier findet die Abschlusskonferenz – Bridging the Gaps. Connecting the Dots. – im Rahmen des Festivals THEATER DER WELT statt.
Die Veranstaltung bildet den Höhepunkt einer ambitionierten internationalen Initiative, die in den vergangenen drei Jahren Kulturorganisationen, Künstler*innen, Forscher*innen und politische Entscheidungsträger*innen aus ganz Afrika und Europa zusammengebracht hat. Im Laufe des Projekts hat Deconfining Künstlerresidenzen, Koproduktionen und kritischen Dialog gefördert, während es sich gleichzeitig in einem zunehmend komplexen globalen Umfeld bewegte, das von Mobilitätsbeschränkungen, geopolitischen Spannungen und strukturellen Ungleichheiten geprägt ist. Die Konferenz in Chemnitz bietet einen wichtigen Moment zum Nachdenken, Austausch und für einen Blick in die Zukunft.
