Voting is a civil right. For many people, it's a civic duty. Elections give Delawareans the power to choose who represents them and influence policies that affect their families and communities. But democracy doesn’t end when the ballots are counted.In the 2024 federal election, Delaware’s voter participation reached 67% of eligible voters. By contrast, turnout in the 2022 midterm election was just under 43%.
If your candidate won, what responsibility comes with that victory? If your candidate lost, how do you stay engaged, informed, and active? What does meaningful civic participation look like between election cycles?
Is voter apathy the problem, or are there barriers to participation for New Castle County voters? Is there adequate civics education in our schools?
