We invite you to come meet the makers, creators, and entrepreneurs bringing new energy at the opening of Bridge Street Studios on Saturday 28th March. Bridge Street Studios, a NEW curated creative community of 20+ tenants in the heart of Nelson's CBD. The free open day invites Nelsonians to step inside, meet the creative minds behind the studios, and discover a new kind of destination in the city centre.
Anchored by Sublime Coffee Roasters and cafe, Bridge Street Studios is home to makers, designers, artisans, and small businesses working side by side in a space that's equal parts workshop, gallery, and neighbourhood hub.
The open day is a chance for the public to experience what makes Bridge Street Studios different: real people doing real work, happy to share their craft, their stories, and a few treats along the way.
What's on
Visitors can expect tastings, talks, giveaways, and hands-on experiences from across the creative cohort, including:
• K-Oui — French-inspired petits fours tastings, baked goods, and hot chocolate, plus a complimentary signature cookie with every Dégustation Box purchase.
• Hākinakina — A founder talk with Sara Cohen on building a New Zealand-made swimwear brand, from first idea to sustainable production. Try on the collection and enjoy 10% off your first order.
• Bio Honey — South Island honey tastings and talks on how honey is produced in New Zealand and what makes mānuka honey so special.
• Common Threads — Add a stitch to the interactive Red Thread community canvas, explore curated NZ yarns and fabrics, and sign up for the Fibre Tribe workshops.
• Cultural Conversations — Discover the stories behind the art with Shakeela, try your hand at pattern design, or have a small henna design applied.
• Nutty Delights — Tastings and sampling, with a free bag of caramelised almonds when you buy any two 150g bags.
• The Green Collective — A free gift with every purchase, plus a samples and seconds basket to explore.
• MAKE – will be showcasing their modular units in the communal space, as well as being the designer behind the Sublime Coffee café.
• Sublime Coffee Roasters — Start with us and collect a complimentary sample-size filter brew to take with you as you wander the studios.
