Two short films. One brief night. An aesthetics of contingency.
About this Event

Join les bricoleurs at Clio's for a screening of their two short films, Daphne (a metamorphosis) and Pythia 300 (the last oracle). Shot entirely in Oakland, CA, utilizing only found sound and and ancient texts, these are movies that will "seize your senses, haul your eyelids up, and grant a brief respite from fear of total neutrality."*

Daphne is a 22-minute retelling of Ovid's story of Daphne and Apollo; Pythia 300 provides an intimate portrait of the life and ultimate disappearance of the Delphic oracle.

Daphne will be screened at 7pm and will be followed by Pythia 300 at 9pm. The 90-minute break between screenings is your opportunity to engage in public criticisms, drinking bouts, smoke breaks, feedings, jeremiads, and research. Les bricoleurs recommend you attend both screenings for maximum effect.

"To take to pieces and regroup sets of events, to use them as indestructible pieces for structural patterns in which they serve alternatively as ends or means is...Bricolage."
—Claude Levi-Strauss, The Savage Mind
