About the Event
Join CONCEPT for Bricolage, an artist talk featuring Cristina Martinez, Von Deon, and Darrell McKinney, for an open conversation on navigating the complex realities of being an artist today.
This discussion moves beyond materials and mediums to explore what it means to choose your path as an artist, how one defines success, sustains a practice, and negotiates visibility within and outside institutional spaces. The panel will unpack the tensions between accessibility and exclusivity, commercial viability and creative autonomy, and the complexities of being seen, collected, or overlooked, particularly as Black artists working within contemporary art.
Why Attend
Bricolage invites audiences to listen, reflect, and engage in a dialogue about the evolving conditions of art-making. Whether you’re an artist, creative, or art lover, this is a chance to hear candid perspectives on what it takes to build and sustain a career in today’s art landscape.
All ticket proceeds directly support CONCEPT’s future programming, artist talks, exhibitions, and community projects that create space for artists and creatives to connect and grow.
