The Breton Dance Collective will be putting on another traditional Breton gathering on Sunday, January 25th! A Fest-Noz (Night Party in Breton) is a combined dance, music, and cultural event that is the heart of social life in Brittany. In keeping with tradition, our FestNoz will have:
MUSIC -a Loud band with Shira Kammen, Ronan Keryell, and Jim Oakden; and a Big band with us and a bunch of our musician friends. All music will be traditional Breton dance tunes and songs, played on acoustic instruments.
DANCE-Adrienne Simpson will be teaching the dances, joined by Bretons Ronan Keryell and Stéphanie Even. All dances will be taught, and no partners are necessary. They're mostly line dances that are easily learned on the fly.
POTLUCK DINNER- we're breaking with our tradition of providing food and drink, and instead are asking people to bring a potluck dish and/or beverage to share.
COME to Dance or Play or Sing, or just to enjoy the festivities.
