A popular fortnightly group ran by Brenda. Create stunning pieces of jewellery to take home and enjoy!In this beginner friendly jewellery club you can learn a variety of fundamental skills and techniques that serve as the foundation for jewellery making. The specific skills taught may vary depending on the what each person is making or what you are interested in. Volunteer instructor, Brenda Owens has a wealth of skills
Beginners will become familiar with essential jewellery making tools such as pliers, wire cutters, and design boards. You will learn about their uses, proper handling, and maintenance. More experienced makers are also welcome.
Wirework: Wirework is a fundamental technique. Participants will learn how to shape, twist, coil, and wrap wire to create various jewellery components such as loops, jump rings, ear wires, and wire-wrapped pendants.
Beadwork: Beadwork involves incorporating beads into jewellery designs. Beginners will learn techniques like stringing beads on wire or thread, using crimp beads, creating basic bead patterns, and adding clasps and closures.
Introduction to Wire Wrapping: Wire wrapping is a technique used to securely wrap and connect beads or stones with wire. Beginners will learn how to create wire-wrapped loops, bails, and basic wire-wrapped pendant designs.
Design Principles: Understanding design principles is crucial for creating visually appealing jewellery. Students may be introduced to concepts like colour theory, balance, proportion, focal points, and composition to guide their jewellery designs.
You will have the opportunity to create your own jewellery pieces using the techniques you have learned, allowing for hands-on practice and creativity.
