The Tuesday night blues jam was born out of a single, driving mission: ensuring South Austin never loses its historic, soulful blues groove. Founded as a collaborative haven, this weekly staple was created to move musicians out of their isolated practice spaces and throw them straight into a live, fluid environment with a professional rhythm section.

This isn't your average solo singer-songwriter open mic night. This is a community-driven proving ground meant to bridge the gap between seasoned, working professionals taking their night off and rising local talent looking to sharpen their stage presence. It is built entirely on the philosophy of collaboration, quick musical thinking, mentorship, and mutual respect.

For two decades, host Breck English (widely known across Austin musician circles for his BrecksMusicJams community) has been a tireless champion of the local live music scene. Famous for his deep encyclopedic knowledge of roots music and a zero-ego approach to stage management, Breck acts as the ultimate master of ceremonies. He handles the sign-up board like a puzzle, strategically pairing players together to build entirely new band dynamics on the spot. Whether you are a veteran guitarist or a fresh face in town, Breck creates a welcoming space designed to make you sound your best.
