Breathing techniques and labor positions
About this Event
Breathing Techniques & Labor Positions: A Hands-On Doula Workshop
Few things shape a birth more than how a person breathes and how they move. In this practical, hands-on workshop, we'll explore the breathing techniques and positional tools that help labor progress, ease discomfort, and give your clients a genuine sense of agency in the room.
Led by Stephanie Heintzeler, a German-trained midwife, acupuncturist, birth doula, and IBCLC with over 3,200 births attended, this session blends clinical understanding with the practical realities of supporting someone in active labor.
What we'll cover
- Breathing techniques for each stage of labor, and how to coach them when your client is overwhelmed
- Positions that open the pelvis and encourage optimal fetal positioning
- Movement and position changes for a stalled or slow labor
- Adapting your support for epidurals, continuous monitoring, and limited mobility
- Comfort measures for back labor
- Hands-on practice with peer feedback
Who this is for
Both new and experienced doulas are warmly welcome. If you're newer to birth work, you'll leave with a toolkit you can use at your very next birth. If you've been at this a while, you'll refine what you already do and pick up fresh approaches to bring into the room.
