Did you know that your breath can control your heart rate, blood pressure, anxiety levels and so much more? Our breath is the most powerful tool we have to regulate our Selves, but most people take it for granted until they're huffing and puffing up the stairs declaring “Oh my God, I can't breath”
Breath work is taught to military personnel, corporate CEO's and addicts in rehabilitation centers. It is now also expanding into classrooms, hospitals and psychiatrists offices. It works on both scientific and spiritual levels.
From a scientific perspective, controlled breathing influences anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate by regulating the Autonomic Nervous System and the Vegas Nerve. By consciously changing your breathing pattern you can shift your body from the fight or flight stress response to a calmer rest and digest state, almost immediately affecting these issues.
From a spiritual perspective we can look to Genesis 2:7, where it says God "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." If you truly have faith, you can rest assured that the breath of life given to you from the creator will solve any issue that you might be dealing with in the moment.
