Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets, it’s time to race toward breakthroughs!The 2026 Breakthrough T1D Grand Rapids Gala is off to the races on Friday, May 1, at the luxurious JW Marriott. This year’s theme, inspired by the iconic Kentucky Derby, invites guests to don their finest fascinators, bold bow ties, and festive spring attire for an elegant night of Southern charm and spirited generosity.
Step into a world of Derby Day glamour, complete with a premium open bar, southern-style stationed and passed hors d’oeuvres, and signature cocktails worthy of Churchill Downs. Try your luck with two lively crowd favorites, Heads or Tails and the thrilling Golden Paddle game.
As the “call to post” sounds, guests will head into the ballroom for a plated dinner and the main event, a moving program featuring stories of hope, a premiere live auction with exclusive packages, and opportunities to drive progress for those living with type 1 diabetes.
After the final bid is placed and the mission is celebrated, the night will continue on a high note with live music and dancing, courtesy of local favorite Brena.
All proceeds from the evening will support Breakthrough T1D’s mission to accelerate life-changing research and bring us closer to a world without type 1 diabetes.
