About this Event
Join us for the premiere of the ABC News 4 documentary Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop, a powerful story about mental illness, suicide prevention, and a mother’s mission to turn personal loss into advocacy and hope.
The film follows veteran ABC News 4 anchor Tessa Spencer and her son Julian Fite, a gifted poet and performer whose life was shaped by depression, anxiety, and later diagnoses of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Through intimate interviews and reflections from family, friends, and mental health experts, the documentary explores the realities of mental illness, the impact of stigma, and the importance of early intervention and community support.
Following Julian’s death by suicide at age 24, Spencer has committed herself to raising awareness and advocating for better resources for families facing serious mental illness.
This special community screening aims to spark conversation, connection, and hope.
Admission is free and open to the public.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
