Hosted by Ryan Metzler of CCBC’s Digital Media Program, this conversation highlights real-world experiences, first jobs, and lessons learned. Expect an honest, lively discussion designed to demystify getting started in the industry.

Assistant Professor | Acting Coordinator - Digital Media Production
Ryan Metzler is an Assistant Professor in the Digital Media Production Program at CCBC. Originally from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, he earned a BA in Media Arts & Culture from Occidental College, an MA in Film & Media Studies from the University of Otago as a Fulbright Scholar, and an MFA in Cinema & Media Production from Boston University. Ryan has worked in production on several unscripted television series, including Fastest Car (Netflix), This Is Life Live (TLC), T-Pain’s School of Business (Fuse), and Nate & Jeremiah By Design (TLC), and has produced films that have screened at the Newport Film Festival, Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival, and New Mexico State Film Festival.

Ani has worked in freelance production since her first “take-your-daughter-to-work” day at age 11. Over the years she has taken on a wide range of on-set roles, including PA, AC, Media Manager, VTR/Video Assist, Production Manager, Grip, Utility, Technical Director, Teleprompter Operator, Streaming Technician, Stage Manager, and Associate Director for Face the Nation and Weekend News. She especially enjoys the variety of roles available on set and the way each department works together to bring a production to life.

Othello Banaci is a Liberian-American filmmaker and photographer based in Washington, DC. Known for his composition, storytelling, and passion for human rights, he creates space for people to share their stories with compassion and grace. Recent credits include the Emmy-winning HBO documentary 38 at the Garden, the SunRa: Do The Impossible, and the Yale & Slavery Research Project.
