Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Roots, honoring Former Mayor Tom Bradley
About this Event

As part of the USC School of Dramatic Arts Sparks Center for Culture and Community Fall 2026 programming that celebrates cultural literacies, join us in honoring former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley through literature. This event will feature a book panel with USC alums and Los Angeles natives Angel Obregon, Bella Castillo, Dennis Ojogho, Azmera Hammouri-Davis.

With honorary remarks from Ms. Lorraine Bradley, Mayor Tom Bradley's daughter, we will discuss the cultural and educational impact of the first Black mayor and longest-standing mayor of Los Angeles through literature. Each panelist will discuss how Mayor Tom Bradley's life influenced their own trajectory and creative writing practice as authors and professional advocates devoted to community empowerment and healing.

In partnership with Break The Boxes® and Bellacastillo.art®. Sponsored by Jazz Out Loud. Location at USC.
