IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR JULY: This month we are an official Heat of the Australian Poetry Slam! Please note that the time limit for APS performances is 2 minutes, not the usual 3 minutes. The full list of APS rules is available here.
At least one winner from this month's slam will progress to the next round of the national competition, which ends in the National Finals at the Sydney Opera House. There, state champions from all over Australia will compete for paid professional opportunities, publication, mentorship and the glorious title of Australian Poetry Slam Champion 2026.

What is a poetry slam?
A poetry slam is an open mic for poetry where the points matter. Judges are randomly selected from the audience to determine our slam champion for each month. Sign up to perform an original poem on the night, or just come be part of our audience.
