At a mid-life turning point, Claire set off alone, ill-prepared and unsupported, on a bike named Trixie with little more than determination and curiosity—asking herself: are you braver than you think?

What followed was an unforgettable ride through the length of Britain, becoming a journey not only of endurance and physical challenge, but also of resilience, mental wellbeing, empowerment, and self-discovery.

Along the way, Claire reflects on the people she met, the landscapes she crossed, and the unexpected lessons found in the saddle.

The book works both as a day-by-day travelogue of an iconic British cycling route and as an honest, uplifting account of stepping outside your comfort zone, offering something for dedicated cyclists and armchair adventurers alike.

In the second half of the evening, Neil Wyatt (Owner, South Downs Social) will host a relaxed in-conversation with Claire, exploring the themes of the book and her experiences on the road, followed by an audience Q&A where you can put your own questions to the author.
