Talking about cancer can be difficult. Brave Kids, Strong Families is a free program from Kettering Health Cancer Care thathelps families with children ages 5-15 cope with a loved one’s diagnosis. Guided by trained experts, families use conversation
and creative projects to express feelings and build confidence to continue these discussions at home.
Program Details
For Kids (limited to 20 participants):
• Refreshments provided
• Activities to get to know each other
• Art projects focused on expressing feelings
• Age-appropriate education about cancer
• Guided tour of the Cancer Center
For Parents and Caregivers
• Guidance on age-appropriate communication with kids
• Tips and project ideas to continue conversations at home
• A take-home journal for family communication
• Information on nationwide and virtual support resources
• Contact information for Kettering Health Cancer Care social workers for ongoing support
