Join us for the “Ikebana – The Art of Japanese Floral Arrangement” workshop which will be a beginner-friendly introduction to Ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging flowers and branches. The workshop will be led by two certified Ikebana teachers, or Sensei, representing two distinct schools: Kado Sensho Ikenobo and Ohara. Each will demonstrate the school’s foundational style and explain how line, balance, depth and color shape an Ikebana arrangement.
Following the demonstrations, participants choose a style and create an arrangement. The Sensei will guide you through the process step by step, then offer feedback on the finished work as part of the traditional Ikebana learning experience. Your arrangement and materials go home with you to continue practicing.
Tickets include wine, light bites and all materials, including a suiban, or low bowl, a kenzan flower holder, flowers, branches and other floral materials. Doors open at 5:30pm and the workshop begins promptly at 6pm.
Please bring: Garden or floral clippers and a bucket or other container to transport your completed arrangement safely.
