Legend has it that in 1894, an informal ploughing challenge match was arranged following an argument with several local farmers. The first official competition took place in 1895.
The Brailsford Match has continued as an annual event that celebrates farming heritage with ploughing and hedgecutting competitions, showcasing traditional skills and cultivating community spirit.
