About this Event
Date: April 25th, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture
In this workshop, participants create simple yet meaningful pendants using horsehair and natural stones. Inspired by the horses here in Central Oregon and the artist’s own homeland in Inner Mongolia, where horses carry deep cultural symbolism. This craft experience emphasizes material integrity and a profound sense of place, while introducing the cultural significance of horsehair in art and adornment and drawing connections from Inner Mongolian equestrian traditions to broader Western and Indigenous artistic practices. Through this craft, materials become vessels of memory, land, and heritage.
All materials will be provided.
For ages 16 and older. Those under age 16 may attend accompanied by an adult.
About the Instructor:
(She/Her) – Jersey City, NJ
Jingyi Yang is a textile artist and fashion designer from Inner Mongolia, now based in New York. Her practice explores how threads can hold emotion, distance, and time, carrying traces of memory through material. She reimagines textiles as quiet spaces where material listens and remembers.
