https://baysideportland.org/bpmfest/The Bayside Neighborhood Association (BNA) presents the first inaugural BPM Traditional Drum Festival on the Bayside Trail this summer thanks to a generous grant from the Levitt Family Foundation. The festival will highlight the area’s diverse ethnic history and strong immigrant community, as well as its rich musical culture and commitment to creative arts. Interactive drum circles, a cross-cultural beat sync experiment, and featured performers such as the Keepers of the Penobscot Drum, Taiko Maine, and others are planned. www.baysideportland.org/BPMfest
The Bayside Neighborhood Association’s mission is to empower the Bayside community by building meaningful partnerships that promote health, safety, green spaces, diversity, housing, and sustainable development. The Bayside trail was created in 2010 as a pathway to community connection based on the city’s New Vision for Bayside, written in 2000. The BNA has consistently endeavored for positive activation of the trail while advocating for responsible development of the adjoining city-owned properties known as Midtown. With events like last year’s Tree Hugging
and Howl-oween Dog Costume Pageant, and now the BPM Drum Fest, the BNA delivers on the hope for the future represented there. www.baysideportland.org
The Levitt Family Foundation leverages the power of free, live music to strengthen the social fabric of communities, creating places people love while amplifying local pride, activating underused public spaces and fostering more healthy, equitable, and thriving communities one city, and one concert, at a time. www.levitt.org/festivals
