Gain experience in installing and maintaining air and ground source heat pumps.
About this Event

The aim of this course is to provide experienced plumbing and heating engineers with the practical and theoretical knowledge required to effectively install and maintain air and ground source heat pumps and to assist in MCS accreditation.

Background

The demand for trained micro renewable energy equipment installers is growing. This growth in the market is being encouraged through initiatives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). The RHI will pay a pre-determined price for every kWh heat generated by ground or water source heat pumps. Air source heat pumps are expected to be included in the RHI scheme at a later date. Smaller heat pump systems will have to be fitted by MCS accredited installers to be eligible for these funds. Heat pumps are widely used in Scandinavia and other European countries and can offer a reliable and effective heating solution in many applications.

Client Group

Candidates wishing to receive a BPEC Biomass Heating Systems installer certificate must either have :

* A SVQ level 3 in plumbing or heating engineering, or

* Several years’ experience in the plumbing/heating engineering trade with Proof of Competence (CAT 2 form),

AND

* A valid Unvented Hot Water certificate.
