Boxing Day Palmerston City Loop Ride - 26th December 2025 - Intermediate level ride.
30km flat trotting ride (4 - 6 hours riding - 8 - 10km/hr average) through the Milson industrial area along the Manawatu River Bridlepath to the Racecourse and return via the Mangone stream stopbanks.
Approximately 5km of city roads, most businesses closed and should be very few heavy vehicle operating but no guarantees. The rest is off-road on shared paths.
Lunch break at halfway point, river end of Maxwell's Line - tea/coffee, toilet, secure pony parking - please bring twine and halters/lead ropes for tying up.
Hazards to note: Road crossings, road and railway underpasses (some are low and may require you to dismount), general public (including prams, children and dogs, city road riding).
Items to bring: Lunch, drinks, halter/lead and twine for tying up.
Duration: 4 - 6 hours. We will be trotting for reasonable distances wherever we can to reduce the travel time. Please honestly assess you and your horse's fitness and speed capabilities.
